My memories with 'Uncle Robob' are ones of joy and fun growing up. On reflection, this is because he was just a big kid too, always happy and making sure Poppy, Jack, Megan and myself were having the most fun always. I'll never forget his fits of laughter when he watched Jack's face on the rides at the fun fair he took us to, or the summers spent in parks and pub gardens where we would just run around being kids and Robert always there with us. Of course at the time I didn't know what a contrast these seemingly carefree and happy days must have been to the increasing pressure and danger that Robert faced in his work life, but I'm sure that he would agree with me that those days were some of the best days we've all had.
I'm so sad for the pain and suffering that Robert went onto endure but I'm immensely proud of him, his bravery and the sacrifices he made. He will always be a hero, who deeply loved his family and underneath it all just wanted to be sat in the sunshine in a pub garden surrounded by his family with a pint, packet of crisps and good conversation.
I'll miss you always Robert xx
